First, the types of basalt fibers
Basalt fibers are mainly divided into two categories: one is monofilament basalt fiber, and the other is multifilament basalt fiber.
Monofilament basalt fibers are drawn from a single basalt melt and are generally between 10-30 μm in diameter. Due to the small diameter of monofilament, it has good softness and bendability, and is suitable for making soft fabrics, yarns, etc.
Multifilament basalt fibers are made by twisting multiple monofilament basalt fibers, generally between 100-200 μm in diameter. Due to the large diameter of multifilament basalt fiber, it has high stiffness and strength, and is suitable for making composite materials, building materials, bulletproof materials, etc. with high strength requirements.
Second, the size of basalt fiber
The size of basalt fibers refers to the length and diameter of the fibers. Depending on the use of the fiber and the production process, the size varies.
Monofilament basalt fibers are generally between 10-30 μm in diameter and between tens and hundreds of meters in length.
The diameter of multifilament basalt fibers is generally between 100-200 μm and the length is between a few meters and tens of meters.
