Zirconia grinding beads, also known as 95% zirconia beads or yttrium stabilized beads.
It uses micrometer or sub nanometer zirconia powder as raw material and is sintered at medium high temperature. It has the characteristics of high hardness, low wear rate, high grinding efficiency, and low overall cost.
It is currently the best grinding medium.
1 . Definition of high pressure properties
Melting point and thermal stability: 95 zirconia beads (ZrO₂ content ≥ 95%) melting point > 2400 °C, crystal-free conversion at the casting sand spray temperature (normal temperature up to 500 °C), compared to steel sand (melting point 1535 °C) and silicon carbide (2200 °C) with higher thermal stability;
Compressive strength: Compressive strength ≥2000MPa, can withstand the high pressure of 0.8-1.2MPa, to avoid the risk of breakage of conventional glass beads (compressive strength ≤800MPa).
2 . Special advantages of casting cleaning :
Chemical Inertity: No chemical reaction with cast iron surface rust (Fe2 O3), aluminum alloy oxide skin (Al2 O3), to avoid compounds remaining on the surface of the workpiece after spraying sand;
Low wear rate: wear rate <0.01%/100h when sand casting, is 1/100 of steel sand (wear rate 1-2%/100h), to reduce media consumption and equipment wear.

1 . Surface cleaning process for cast iron
Engine cylinder injection:
Using zirconia beads with a particle size of 5-8mm and sandblasting at a pressure of 1.0MPa, it is possible to quickly remove sand and oxide scale on the surface of cast iron (HT300), with a roughness Ra of up to 25-50 μ m, meeting the requirements of subsequent coatings for anchoring texture;
2 . Precision cleaning of aluminum
Pre treatment of wheels:
Using 3-5mm zirconia beads and 0.6MPa air pressure spraying, residual release agent on the surface of aluminum alloy (ADC6) can be accurately removed, avoiding particles<5 μ m generated by wear of ZrO ₂ beads and the pinhole error ₂ caused by conventional silica sand (SiO2) in the electric couple layer (pinholes reduced from 20/dm ² to 3/dm ²);
Process parameters: spray angle is 45 °, spray gun distance is 150 mm, 2-3 times of cyclic sand blasting to ensure that the surface cleanliness reaches Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1).
