Corrosion Resistant And Refractory Calcined Bauxite

Corrosion Resistant And Refractory Calcined Bauxite

Refractory alumina aggregate plays a skeleton role in the particle size composition of refractory materials. They are granular materials with a particle size greater than 0.088mm, made from various refractory raw materials through calcination, crushing processing, or artificial synthesis. Aggregate is the main material in amorphous refractory materials, generally accounting for 60% to 75% of the total composition. Therefore, the material of amorphous refractory materials is generally named after the fruit material used, such as refractory castables or refractory ramming materials made of high alumina bauxite clinker as aggregate, which are called high alumina castables or high alumina ramming materials.

3.The application advantages of calcined bauxite in the field of refractory materials are very significant, and its performance characteristics are highly matched with the core requirements of high-temperature industry for refractory materials. Specific advantages can be developed from the following aspects:

1, Excellent high-temperature stability to meet extreme environmental requirements
-High refractoriness: The alumina in calcined bauxite exists as stable crystal phases such as corundum (Al ₂ O Ⅲ) or mullite (3Al ₂ O Ⅲ · 2SiO ₂), with a refractoriness generally above 1770 ℃. Some high alumina grades (Al ₂ O Ⅲ>85%) can even withstand high temperatures above 2000 ℃, far exceeding ordinary clay refractory materials (1580-1770 ℃). It can be directly used as an inner lining for ultra-high temperature equipment such as steel blast furnaces and glass melting furnaces.
-Strong sintering resistance: It is not easily prone to structural collapse due to self melting or reaction with other substances at high temperatures, and can maintain structural integrity for a long time, extending the service life of refractory materials.

2, Excellent mechanical properties enhance the structural strength of materials
-High strength and density: During the calcination process, the alumina particles form a tight bond through sintering, resulting in a significant reduction in porosity (usually<10%). The compressive strength can reach several hundred MPa, which is much higher than that of uncalcined alumina or ordinary refractory materials. The refractory bricks, castables and other products prepared with it can withstand mechanical impacts (such as material erosion, equipment vibration) and self weight pressure during kiln operation, reducing the risk of damage.
-* * Good wear resistance * *: The Mohs hardness reaches 7-8, close to corundum. The refractory material made of this material has a low wear rate when facing the erosion and friction of high-temperature materials such as steel and cement clinker, especially suitable for wear prone parts such as blast furnace tapping holes and transition zones in rotary kilns.

3, Excellent chemical stability, resistant to corrosion and erosion
-Acid and alkali corrosion resistance: Corundum and mullite have strong chemical inertness and are not easily reacted with acidic gases (such as SO ₂, CO ₂) or alkaline slag (such as CaO, MgO) at high temperatures. They can effectively resist the corrosion of corrosive media in metallurgical and chemical kilns.
-Resistance to Iron Oxide Penetration: In the steel smelting environment, it can reduce the penetration of molten iron and iron oxide slag into refractory materials, avoiding structural delamination or peeling caused by "slag corrosion". This characteristic makes it a key raw material for blast furnace lining, torpedo tank and other equipment.
