Description
Technical Parameters

Black silicon carbide is an artificially synthesized silicon carbide material made from quartz sand, petroleum coke, and high-quality silica as raw materials, which are melted at high temperatures in a resistance furnace. Its hardness is between that of corundum and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than that of corundum. It belongs to the α - SiC crystal structure and contains about 98.5% silicon carbide.
This material has a black metallic luster, outstanding wear resistance and thermal conductivity, and is commonly used in the processing of materials with low tensile strength such as cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and glass.

4 . Product Features

1. High chemical stability, low thermal expansion coefficient, high thermal conductivity, and resistance temperature characteristics opposite to metals;

2. High hardness, with a Mohs hardness of 9.5, it is the first material wear-resistant additive;

3. Wear resistant, high temperature resistant, corrosion-resistant, acid and alkali resistant solvents;

4 has good toughness, superior grinding performance, and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.

Application Area :

It is commonly used in the processing of materials with low tensile strength such as cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and glass. In industrial applications, it can be used as an abrasive or coated on the surface of mechanical components through special processes to enhance wear resistance. Compared to green silicon carbide, it has stronger toughness but slightly lower hardness. Low grade silicon carbide products (containing about 85% SiC) can be used as deoxidizers in steelmaking, while high-purity silicon carbide is used to manufacture silicon carbon rod electric heating elements. Its physical and chemical properties include high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and semiconductor performance, and are widely used in the fields of refractory materials and precision machining.
